Halsey Announces Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross-Produced Fourth Album: Halsey revealed that her fourth album, ‘If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power’, was produced by Oscar- and Grammy-winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails. The news was announced via a billboard in Los Angeles and an Instagram post featuring a snippet of an unnamed song. "All of this is temporary," Halsey sings over a NIN-worthy grinding, dark track with fuzzed out guitars and ominous bass on the first taste of her follow-up to 2020's Manic album. Though the collaboration with Reznor and Atticus seems out of nowhere, eagle-eyed fans noticed that on June 12, Halsey posted a series of pregnant pics that included one in which she rested a NIN T-shirt over her belly. Unrealtime | Cathal Coughlan: One of Ireland’s most revered and iconic songwriters, Cathal Coughlan reminds you again and again just how good a lyricist he is. Best known as co-founder and vocalist for seminal 80s/90s bands Microdisney and The Fatima Mansions, Coughlan has been described as "the most underrated lyricist in pop today" by The Guardian newspaper. DJ John Peel was also such a fan that he stated he could "listen to Cathal Coughlan sing the phone book".'Unrealtime' is steeped in Coughlan's Irish past and the landscape that informed it. The album’s closer, it features a guest appearance from his former Microdisney bandmate Sean O'Hagan (also High Llamas, Stereolab) and acclaimed Dublin singer-songwriter Eileen Gogan, who previously appeared with the band on their final reunion shows in 2018. A Infeliz Tragédia de Maria | Rodrigo Eugênio: First single from the artist’s forthcoming first album, to be released later this year, ‘A Infeliz Tragédia de Maria’ (Mary's Unhappy Tragedy) is a track where Rodrigo looks for inspiration in several samba and MPB artists, such as Dorival Caymmi, Jards Macalé and José Mauro. "The aesthetics of my work have a lot to do with these artists and also with the album 'Cadaver Pega Fogo Durante O Velório', released in 1983", says the singer. The song's inspiration came from a tragic episode, when Rodrigo was in the central region of São Paulo and saw a dead woman, in front of Theatro Municipal. " I researched on the internet, looked for news and never heard about it. Later, when I wrote the lyrics, I included the name Maria, because it's a common name," he says. "Lyricism and tragedy are part of the aesthetics of my work. My childhood was shared by Nelson Gonçalves. I spent a lot of time with my grandfather, who was a great bohemian and occasionally we saw tragic things too", he adds. Listo to the track.

Jack Elam | She is Dead: A tribute to the Jack Elam, an actor who enchanted audiences, from the 50s to the 90s, in several roles from dramatic to comic, the new track demonstrates, in just over 2 minutes of nervous guitars, exciting basses and destructive drums, all the power and speed characteristic of the band. Watch Jack Elam.

Canto Velório | Dona Iracema: Chosen as the first single to present the central idea of the next album, 'Canto Velório' (Wake Song) talks about the delicate and difficult moment of saying goodbye to your loved ones, at the same time that, in a subtle and sweeping way, serves as a essay on death in times of pandemic. "When we got together to start building the album, we didn't imagine that we would go through all of this, and all the feelings that would plague us during this period, in this sense, we transformed all our grief, all our nostalgia, all our fear, into a tribute to all the victims who could not have their last goodbyes, who could not have dignified farewell, who could not have a proper wake". Listen Canto Velório.

God Talking | Hard Point: New stoner rock band from Rio de Janeiro raises questions about the technological dependence present in the pandemic period. The song is the first of the band's new line-up, featuring new vocalist Emanuel Morais and bassist Emerson Bastos, who give the band a new sound. God Talking talks about technological malaise in a true statement about how liquid modernity can affect our own daily lives. After all, if there's anyone who never stops being with us all the time, it's technology and uninterrupted connectivity. Is "God" this presence that we submit to online? The song raises questions precisely about this issue that is so present in the pandemic, still reflecting on who we are when we are "on the air". Listen to God Talking.

Body N' Soul | Old Lamp: With 14 tracks of most genuine rock n' roll, hard rock and ballads (never dismiss the power of o good ballad), stitched together with intelligent lyrics, the quintet's debut album is full of excellent work, which is literally done body and soul as its title suggests. If you like old god Rock'n'Roll, Hard Rock and the occasional ballad (never forget the ballads), you probably will like it. Listen to Body and Soul.

It Is Finished When It's Destroyed / Ghost Foxes | The Academy of Sun: A limited 100-pressing lathe cut vinyl edition of from this intriguing, exciting, expansive and promising band. Following on from The Academy of Sun's ambitious 2020 album 'The Quiet Earth', Heaven’s Lathe is proud to present two new songs from this very special Brighton-based ensemble. On 'It Is Finished When It's Destroyed' and 'Ghost Foxes', The Academy of Sun have never sounded so glorious. Referring to themselves as ‘queer, gnostic, orchestral post-punk’, their music is centered on the rich vocals and nuanced song-writing of Nick Hudson, whose work has been described by no lesser authority than Julian Cope as “Bill Nelson singing Scott’s ‘Angels Of Ashes’… highly fucking beautiful in a gazing together into Biba mirrors with smeared lippy kind of manner.” More info.
